SkyAlyne, a joint venture of global defense and security company CAE and KF Aerospace, will handle the Royal Canadian Air Force’s training program under a $8.2 billion, 25-year contract.
The initiative, called Canada’s Future Aircrew Training program, involves preparations for Canadian military pilots, air combat systems officers and airborne electronic sensor operators, according to CAE’s contract award announcement.
SkyAlyne will collaborate with the RCAF in the development and delivery of a comprehensive training and support curriculum, including ground school training, simulation and live flying. The FAcT contract also calls for the acquisition of more than 70 training aircraft, including fleets of Airbus helicopters and Beechcraft King Air 260.
Marc Parent, CAE president and CEO, acknowledged the contract win as transformational for the company and SkyAlyne. “As an industry leader in civil and defense simulation training and critical operations, CAE is proud to be part of the future of aircrew training in Canada,” he said.
CAE and KF Aerospace established SkyAlyne as a 50/50 joint venture in 2018, leveraging their years of experience in pilot and aircrew training in Canada.
