Elbit Systems has secured a $50 million contract to equip an unnamed international customer with its Red Sky air defense system.
Under the two-year agreement, the Israeli company will deliver two Red Sky batteries to enhance the client’s soft- and hard-kill defense capabilities.
Elbit said the system offers protection against low-altitude aerial threats at an affordable cost.
According to Elbit Systems Land General Manager Yehuda Vered, Red Sky enables users to defend their borders and secure their strategic assets.
“This new defense solution was created based on close collaboration between Elbit Systems’ divisions, utilizing existing Elbit Systems building blocks and integrating them into a comprehensive new solution with new anti-aircraft missiles and advanced soft-kill defense mechanisms,” Vered explained.
The deal bundles Elbit’s Redrone electronic warfare solution, which employs radar, sensors and jammers to detect and defeat unmanned aerial systems.
It also calls for the defense contractor to integrate anti-aircraft missile launchers into the Red Sky system.
Elbit booked the new contract following its selection on Monday by the Brazilian Army to supply the Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer System, a 155 mm caliber self-propelled gun system that offers superior firepower and enhanced mobility during battlefield deployment.
