The U.S. Army has tasked two industry partners to develop prototypes that would improve foreign military sales processes.
The Foreign Military Sales-Army Case Execution System product office under the Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems recently kicked off a competitive prototype phase wherein selected vendors will create and demonstrate their proposed technologies to support the FMS community and stakeholders.
According to Aric Sherwood, acting assistant program executive officer for PEO EIS, vendors must address current problems with modern solutions using the Agile project management approach.
“For PEO EIS, a guiding principle in Agile is about getting value to users in the form of working software as quickly as possible,” he said.
The competition is part of the U.S. Army’s modernization plan, which includes sunsetting its aging case management system, in use for over 40 years.
The vendors will work on their prototypes through August.
FMS-ACES is the first Army defense business system in the Software Acquisition Pathway. The technology that will result from the competition is expected to efficiently plan and perform case life cycle processes.
