The U.S. government has signed an Integrated Battle Command System purchase agreement with the Polish Ministry of National Defence worth $2.5 billion, with deliveries to begin later in 2024. According to a Defense News report, Poland plans to use the IBCS to operate Patriot missile launchers under the Wisla and Narew defense programs.

At the contract signing on Thursday, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, Poland’s deputy prime minister and national defense minister, said Poland is the first country outside the United States to have the integrated command system.

American aerospace and defense company Northrop Grumman manufactures the IBCS, a system designed to stitch together originally incompatible sensors and effectors under a single command and control system, supporting the U.S. Joint All-Domain Command and Control warfighting concept.

Breaking Defense reported that during a visit of Northrop executives in Warsaw in November, CEO Kathy Warden highlighted Poland’s potential to create a true multidomain force resulting from deploying advanced military capabilities, including Northrop technology and air and missile defense. Warden said fielding such weapons will enable the country to improve its deterrence against adversaries and strengthen its capabilities to defend its homeland and allied countries.

Northrop is expanding its footprint, with plans to establish a headquarters in Warsaw for the Central European region.
