business partner

Lockheed Martin and tactical IT company MilDef Group of Helsingborg, Sweden, have agreed to explore an industrial partnership and boost Swedish aerospace capability.

The U.S. defense contractor said the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to identify new collaborative opportunities as it offers its C-130J-30 Super Hercules for consideration to the Swedish Air Force. SwAF is looking to modernize its C-130H fleet.

In particular, the partnership aims to integrate MilDef technology into Lockheed Martin’s global aerospace and defense ecosystem.

“Aligning our expertise with MilDef strengthens Lockheed Martin as we expand our relationships with Swedish industry to generate jobs and economic benefits, while also supporting Sweden’s air power mission through our C-130J-30 Super Hercules offering,” Tony Frese, vice president of business development for the air mobility and maritime missions at Lockheed Martin, said in a statement.

The partnership will center on the tactical airlifter, which according to Lockheed will upgrade the Swedish Air Force’s air transportation capabilities.

The C-130J-30 is designed to provide operational readiness, increased reliability, superior airlift capabilities and high engine performance at an extended range, the company said.
