Randy Fields has joined Austin, Texas-based Ultra Intelligence & Communications as vice president and chief technology officer.
In announcing his appointment on social media, Fields said he brings to Ultra his expertise in airborne datalinks, joint fires and tactical edge technology.
His LinkedIn profile lists prior work with Cubic Digital Intelligence, the U.S. Navy Reserves, Northrop Grumman, the Information Sciences Institute and the U.S. Navy.
He spent more than four years at Cubic, first serving as engineering director then as vice president, CTO, and most recently as vice president and general manager.
Previously, Fields served as a cryptologic warfare officer for the Navy Reserves for seven years. At Northrop Grumman where he worked for 14 years, his last role was software engineering manager and software architect.
Fields holds a master’s degree in technical management and a graduate certificate in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
Among his first engagements as Ultra executive will be as a speaker at the Potomac Officers Club’s Defense R&D Summit on Wednesday.
