Satellogic, Malaysia’s Uzma Berhad to Lead Earth Observation Satellite Development

Satellogic and Uzma Berhad to help Malaysia in Earth observation spacecraft program

Satellogic and Uzma Berhad will be leading the development of the Malaysian High-Resolution Earth Observation Satellite Project.

As Uzma’s technology partner, Satellogic will be collaborating with Malaysia’s workforce in designing, developing, assembling and integrating a high-resolution satellite. Based on Satellogic’s platform, the spacecraft will be fitted with technologies that would enable it to deliver 50-centimeter resolution across all spectral bands.

According to Dato’ Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed, Group CEO of Uzma, his team decided to collaborate with Satellogic as they have the “proven satellite technology and a commitment to agile innovation.”

“With the government’s guidance, Satellogic’s expertise, and our homegrown talents, we are enabling Malaysia to leap forward in its geospatial intelligence capabilities,” he added.

Since 2010, Satellogic has been democratizing access to geospatial data, delivering high-resolution images to help in addressing a wide range of issues, including climate change and food security.

“We’re proud to support Malaysia’s forward-looking vision for space and to work alongside Uzma and GeospatialAI in delivering capabilities that will drive national resilience and innovation,” said Satellogic co-founder and CEO Emiliano Kargieman.

In January, the two companies collaborated to launch UZMASAT-1, an Earth observation satellite that comes with a spatial resolution of up to 50 cm and tasking control capabilities.
