Leidos will lead a consortium to enhance NATO’s IT infrastructure and cybersecurity under a new contract with the NATO Communications and Information Agency, NCIA said Wednesday. The consortium comprises trans-Atlantic companies, including CGI, Leonardo and Thales.
The agency noted that the contract will provide the NATO Operational Network with its first modern, scalable and secure cloud capability. The network would replace legacy infrastructure and upgrade service delivery to the NATO Command Structure, it added.
Trans-Atlantic Collaboration
Steve Hull, who leads the digital modernization team at Leidos, said their work on the project attests to their commitment to providing mission-ready systems that align with the alliance’s needs. “It also creates new opportunities for integrated collaboration across trans-Atlantic defense networks, helping NATO teams stay securely connected and able to share critical information with greater speed, agility and assurance,” added the executive, a 4×24 member and 2025 Wash100 winner.
Ludwig Decamps, NCIA general manager, described the contract as a “cornerstone” of the agency’s IT modernization and a demonstration of the robust NATO partnerships with industry.
NCIA awarded the contract for an undisclosed amount through a novel, fast-tracked competitive bidding process. According to the agency, the new process reduced the contractor selection timeframe to about half compared with the time typically spent on major projects.
