GM Defense has partnered with British defense firm NP Aerospace to compete for the U.K. Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle program and other modernization initiatives across NATO.

International industry and government partnerships take center stage as the Potomac Officers Club’s 2025 GovCon International Summit on Oct. 16 explores how coalition warfare and cutting-edge technologies transform the defense arena. Secure your spot today.

According to GM Defense President Stephen duMont, the collaboration allows his company to showcase its innovations in next-generation mobility solutions, product development and manufacturing — areas in which the General Motors military product subsidiary has extensively invested.

“This is now coupled with NP Aerospace’s expertise in armor manufacturing, technology integration, vehicle maintenance and support,” he said. “Together, we will deliver innovative solutions to the British Army, demonstrating our commitment to provide the best capability to our NATO alliance partners.”

London’s LMV program is a key part of the British Army’s broader Land Mobility Programme and aims to replace aging vehicle fleets with a common-based platform.

GM Defense said it will leverage NP Aerospace’s facilities in Coventry, England and Ontario, Canada, to target opportunities outside the U.K., including Canada’s Light Utility Vehicle and Light Forces Enhancement programs.

Last year, GM Defense secured a $26 million order from the Canadian Armed Forces for 90 light tactical vehicles to support NATO operations in Latvia. Earlier, the Concord, North Carolina-based company was awarded a contract to provide its next-generation Suburban Shield armored vehicles to Qatar‘s Armed Forces and Special Forces Command.
