Anduril Partners With Rheinmetall for European Autonomous Drone Capability

Anduril Industries partner with Rheinmetall for European autonomous capability

Anduril Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with Rheinmetall to produce software-defined autonomous air systems and advanced propulsion capabilities for Europe.

“Together with Rheinmetall, we’re building systems that can be produced quickly, deployed widely, and adapted as NATO missions evolve,” Anduril Industries CEO Brian Schimpf said.

The partnership calls for the two companies to integrate three capabilities into the Rheinmetall digital sovereignty framework, expanding Europe’s ability to rapidly deliver solutions needed by NATO. They will adopt a “built with, not for” philosophy,” prioritizing local control, transparency and adaptability. According to Schimpf, the collaboration is “built on shared production, operational relevance and mutual respect for sovereignty.”

Anduril’s Barracuda low-cost autonomous air system and Fury multi-mission autonomous solution are among those joining the effort. The Barracuda is a portfolio of air-breathing autonomous air vehicles that combines advanced software with a simplified design to deliver a highly intelligent, low-cost and flexible mission system.

According to Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, the inclusion of Anduril solutions into the company’s European production setup and digital sovereignty framework will enable more autonomous capabilities in the region.
