The U.S. Department of State has cleared a potential $425 million foreign military sale to Kuwait of Patriot Post-Deployment Build 8.1 and related equipment and services. RTX will be the principal contractor for the planned deal.
The proposed acquisition covers delivery, installation and upgrade services for Patriot Post-Deployment Build 8.1 and several non-major defense equipment items, including software development, sustainment maintenance, and spare and repair parts.
The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency said that with the Patriot support services, Kuwait is expected to be capable of maintaining a high level of operational readiness and protecting its national security from current and future threats.
In early April, the State Department approved Kuwait’s proposed $400 million acquisition of upgrade services for the RTX-made Patriot missiles. The potential FMS transaction focuses on upgrading and recertifying the Patriot PAC-2 Guidance Enhancement Missiles and recertifying the Patriot Guidance Enhancement Missiles-Tactical.
RTX’s Global Patriot missile defense system can be continuously updated to meet existing and future challenges. Introducing new technologies to the solution will ensure its lethality against a wide spectrum of battlefield threats. The Patriot GEM-T is one of the Patriot missile variants offered to U.S. and international military customers.
