Nokia Recruits Markus Holz as EMEA Space, Defense VP

Nokia has appointed security and aeronautics specialist Markus Holz as vice president of operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. in a LinkedIn post Tuesday, Holz said he will serve as the company’s head of space and defense business in the region.

The role includes overseeing the integration of Nokia’s 5G next-generation connectivity with existing EMEA defense technologies to boost capabilities in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Holz will also handle the regional marketing of Nokia’s tactical communication portfolio, including the radio communication platforms of the Fenix Group, a Nokia unit.

Industry Track Record

Immediately before his Nokia appointment, Holz worked at ELT Group in Deutschland as vice president and head of sales and marketing for the company’s security and defense portfolio. He also spentt over a year as Elbit Systems Deutschland VP for Cybersecurity and C4I.

Past industry experience includes work as a steering committee member of the German FCMS engaged in air power network operations and seven years at Hensoldt, where he last served as director of the Future Combat Air System business unit.
