Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and BAE Systems have signed a new cooperation agreement to strengthen long-term industrial collaboration. According to Kongsberg, the agreement, signed aboard HMS St Albans in Oslo on Friday, aims to support the defense needs of Norway, the United Kingdom and allied nations.
The two companies aim to expand their partnership in all military domains, including specific focus areas such as the Vanguard vessel system, long-term support for new frigates, strike missiles and maritime surveillance, and targeting capabilities. The deal also includes plans for ship system deliveries tailored to both nations’ naval forces.
BAE Systems CEO Charles Woodburn highlighted his company’s enduring partnership with Kongsberg, which has spanned over 80 years. “This agreement brings together a number of areas in which our companies are already collaborating and further enhances our ability to deliver advanced defence capabilities for current and future Norwegian and U.K. armed forces.”
Through this new cooperation, Kongsberg said the two companies aim to drive joint investment, technology transfer and job creation across national and international defense sectors.
BAE Systems and Kongsberg previously collaborated on the U.S. Marine Corps’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle 30mm Cannon, with the first production test vehicle delivered in April 2024.
