The United Kingdom has selected Jacobs to deliver multidisciplinary consultancy and advisory services in support of an initiative that aims to secure the country’s energy security and net zero objectives.
Under the Energy and Net Zero Professional Services Framework, Jacobs will work on four key areas:
- strategic and technical support for nuclear energy projects,
- development and implementation of hydrogen technologies for heating and industrial use,
- innovative solutions and emerging technologies to advance energy efficiency, and
- industrial process transformation to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability.
Energy Security Consulting
“We’ll draw on decades of experience in energy systems and infrastructure to bring [the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero] deeper insight into their mission for a cleaner, secure energy future in the U.K.,” said Jacobs Executive Vice President Keith Lawson.
Jacobs has long collaborated with British and international organizations on decarbonization and energy security initiatives, including providing strategic route options for Britain’s National Gas and heading the engineering aspect of the Philippines’ MTera Solar in building one of the largest solar farms in the world.
In May 2024, Jacobs secured a contract to provide consultancy services in support of the U.K. National Nuclear Laboratory’s initial designs for a facility with a high-temperature gas reactor.
