BlackSky Technology has entered several Gen-3 early access agreements to enable international defense sector customers to integrate very high-resolution images into their intelligence operations.
Gen-3 is the company’s next-generation satellite. It combines hourly revisit with very high-resolution imagery and artificial intelligence-enabled outputs, offering the opportunity to track assets and detect changes faster. It has several features, including 35-centimeter resolution (National Imagery Interpretability Rating Scale Level 5+), multispectral capabilities and low-latency space communications.
The latest deal includes the delivery of the BlackSky Spectra tasking and analytics platform, an on-demand imagery service that allows users to view the planet across every spectrum using visual imagery and other sensing modalities, such as synthetic aperture radar.
“These early access agreements demonstrate confidence in the quality and reliability of our imagery products and will give these customers transformative capabilities that BlackSky uniquely delivers through our proven end-to-end, next-generation AI-enabled commercial architecture,” said BlackSky CEO Brian O’Toole.
In February, BlackSky secured an order from an international customer to acquire on-demand Gen-2 imagery and analytics services, supporting an effort to build immediate and long-term space-based capability.
