The United States remains a vital ally for Lithuania and Europe, Lithuanian Vice Minister for National Defence Karolis Aleksa told a delegation of U.S. politicians visiting the Baltic nation.
In a meeting with Reps. Keith Self, Timothy Kennedy and Derek Tran, Aleksa expressed his government’s continued willingness to host U.S. forces stationed in the region, working to protect peace and stability.
“We are grateful for the unwavering support of the U.S. Congress to the Baltic states. The U.S. security assistance combined with our own defense investment advances our capability building, interoperability, and stronger deterrence and defense of the eastern flank,” the vice minister said.
For their part, the American lawmakers recognized Vilnius’ significant role in defense and capability development in the region.
The meeting also addressed Ukraine’s need for assistance amid its ongoing war against Russia. Aleksa ensured Lithuania’s continued commitment to sending a wide range of aid to the embattled nation.
