Google Cloud is helping Thailand improve its cyber resilience. The deal aims to empower the country’s National Cyber Security Agency in protecting the public from the increasing number of cyberattacks.
“Thailand’s digital economy is set to grow from $46 billion in 2024 to at least $100 billion by 2030. At Google Cloud, we believe we can contribute meaningfully toward the collective cyber defense that’s required to safeguard this future growth,” said Annop Siritikul, country director at Google Cloud Thailand.
Under the collaboration, Google is extending its artificial intelligence-powered Google Cloud Cybershield security platform, a solution that combines automation, analytics and threat intelligence in a single tool, to support the NCSA’s mission. The Google platform will enable ThaiCERT, the country’s national cyber defense center, to streamline threat monitoring across government agencies and critical infrastructure.
The collaboration also provides the Thai government with access to Google Threat Intelligence, Mandiant’s threat insights and VirusTotal’s database. The NCSA workforce also gains an opportunity to upskill by undergoing incident response training with Mandiant consultants.
The Thai government and Google are also working to protect citizens on a personal level. The two entities have launched the Safer Songkran initiative, under the Safer with Google program, with an aim to equip Thais with the essentials to protect themselves from cyberthreats, such as online scams and phishing attacks.
