Maritime autonomy solutions provider Saildrone is set to establish its European subsidiary in Copenhagen, Denmark, amid growing demand for maritime domain awareness in the region. The announcement was made during the recent Maritime Industry Symposium in Washington, D.C.
Salidrone Denmark aligns with the parent company’s commitment to supporting its customers in the region by providing them with autonomous solutions that improve their defense capabilities. Its parent company has been supplying armed forces globally with a wide range of maritime defense solutions, including vessels capable of surface surveillance and ocean floor mapping.
Saildrone founder and CEO Richard Jenkins said that with the recent critical undersea infrastructure attack in the Baltic Sea, European nations need greater maritime situational awareness capability. “I am delighted to announce the establishment of Saildrone Denmark to facilitate our European operations and support allied nations at this critical time for regional maritime security,” he added.
In November 2024, two undersea internet cables in the Baltic Sea were cut. Telecommunications company Telia Lithuania confirmed to CNN that its communications cable connecting Lithuania to Sweden was among those affected. NATO has stepped up to address the security concerns with Baltic Sentry, a multi-domain mission responsible for protecting European critical infrastructure amid growing Russian aggression.
