Swedish defense firm Saab has inaugurated a new factory in Finland to mass-produce the Sirius Compact passive electronic warfare sensor. The facility has started large-batch manufacturing of the EW component, with customer deliveries expected to start within April.
“Our product-focused research and development work enables efficient production and a product-driven business model. This enables fast deliveries and performance of the latest technology for our customers,” said Kristian Tornivaara, managing director of Saab Finland.
The new manufacturing facility in Tampere, southern Finland, was built in response to the growing demand for Sirius Compact, which has been positively received since its launch in 2022.
Sirius Compact is a line of EW sensors that offers to improve situational awareness by allowing warfighters to silently detect, classify and prioritize radar and datalink emissions. It is compact, modular and scalable, making it ideal for deployment in tactical operations and providing passive sensing at all tactical levels.
