Redwire Names President of Civil, International Space Business

Redwire has appointed Mike Gold as president of its civil and international space business to drive the company’s global expansion.

“Mike is a well-known space leader with the international experience and global relationships to meet our strategic goals,” Redwire Chairman and CEO Peter Cannito said in a statement. Cannito also noted that Redwire’s existing international presence and program performance position the company well for further growth under Gold’s leadership.

Previously, Gold was Redwire’s chief growth officer, leading business development, marketing and communications, and government relations for the company’s civil, commercial and national security units.

Before joining Redwire, he held key leadership roles at NASA, including associate administrator for space policy and partnerships, and senior adviser to the administrator for international and legal affairs. He was key in advancing the Artemis Accords, Gateway agreements and regulatory reforms.

His career also includes executive positions at Maxar Technologies and Bigelow Aerospace, where he oversaw the launches of Genesis 1 and 2 spacecraft. Gold served as chair of the Department of Transportation’s Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee and was a member of the National Academies Space Technology-Government University Roundtable.

The appointment comes amid Redwire’s focus on international growth. The Florida-based company recently expanded its European presence with a new office in Warsaw. In March, Redwire’s Belgian subsidiary, Redwire Space NV, joined a European consortium to design a Mars-bound spacecraft for the European Space Agency. This spacecraft is intended for ESA’s LightShip program, an initiative to develop electric propulsion tugs for interplanetary missions.
