India Taps Metrea to Enhance Air Force’s Air-to-Air Refueling Training

The Indian Air Force has tapped Washington-based Metrea to enhance its air-to-air refueling training capabilities. The defense firm will operate the Flight Refueler Aircraft from Indian Air Force Station Agra in Central India.

“Metrea is honored to be working with the Indian Air Force,” said James Morgan, head of Metrea’s strategic mobility unit. “Our contract will quickly expand their AAR training capability and will facilitate extensive training, exercise and movement opportunities to improve IAF readiness.”

Metrea is the sole commercial owner and operator of a C-/KC-135 fleet and provides AAR services designed to integrate with military training and operations. The Indian Air Force contract extends its presence in the commercial AAR market, adding to an existing deal with the U.S. Navy, and follows its recent acquisition of France’s entire C-135FR and KC-135RG tanker fleet.

The deal is the latest contract award for Metrea’s specialized aerial refueling training. In March, it signed a deal with the German Air Force for a three-week program focused on Boom Drogue Adapter techniques for Tornado aircraft operating within German airspace.

Apart from aerial refueling, Metrea also offers solutions in airborne and space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, electronic warfare, secure communications and advanced simulation.
