Bechtel has named Ed Gore as project director for the Poland AP1000 Nuclear Power Project. A senior vice president at Bechtel, Gore brings 30 years of engineering, procurement and construction experience.
Since joining the company in 1988, the executive has held various leadership positions within its Energy and Mining & Metals sectors, most recently serving as general manager of Bechtel’s Mining & Metals North America business, where he helped advance the Thacker Pass lithium project in Nevada. His 37 years at Bechtel also include key contributions to projects in Kazakhstan and Equatorial Guinea, and positions in Bechtel’s India, U.K. and Chile offices. He currently serves on the company’s board, overseeing global equipment operations.
“Ed’s extensive experience and leadership in large-scale EPC projects will be pivotal in driving this crucial project forward,” said Dena Volovar, president of Bechtel’s nuclear, security and environmental business. “Poland’s first nuclear plant will be a breakthrough project, laying the foundation for the country’s energy future and strengthening its position at the forefront of Europe’s nuclear resurgence.”
Bechtel is leading the EPC work for Poland’s first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. The company is partnering with Westinghouse Electric Company and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe to deliver three AP1000 reactors. The Polish government has committed $15.7 billion to the project. The plant’s first reactor is reportedly scheduled for commissioning in 2033.
