Airbus will use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE virtual twins platform to support all new development and life cycle management programs for its civil and military aircraft, including helicopters, under an extended partnership agreement between the two companies. Dassault said the digital platform’s deployment will enable collaboration of over 20,000 Airbus employees and suppliers, either on-premise or on sovereign cloud.
Airbus has adopted a digital-first strategy across all its business facets through its Digital Design, Manufacturing & Services program, which includes the Future Combat Air System as one of its projects.
Virtual Twins Platform
Dassault Systèmes said 3DEXPERIENCE offers Airbus the opportunity to fast-track development cycles, enhance production efficiency and strengthen aftersales support while cutting operating costs. The platform provides Airbus users with seven industry tools: Program Excellence, Winning Concept, Co-Design to Target, Cleared to Operate, Ready for Rate, Build to Operate and Keep Them Operating.
According to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, the company is harnessing digitalization to pursue its core priorities, such as increasing commercial aircraft production and decarbonizing its industry sector. “This renewed partnership with Dassault Systèmes will play an important role in accelerating our progress toward these goals while ensuring the highest levels of quality, safety and security throughout the life cycle of our products and solutions, from design to in-service operations,” the chief executive said.
For Bernard Charlès, Dassault Systèmes executive chairman, the company’s virtual twins platform offers Airbus new possibilities for discovering, creating and producing experiences that will shape the aerospace industry’s future. “Airbus can take full advantage of AI-powered generative experiences and scientific advances in material science, modeling, simulation, production and operation systems efficiency with our 3DEXPERIENCE platform,” he said.
