US Approves $2.7B Emergency Arms Sales to Israel

The U.S. Department of State has approved two separate emergency foreign military sales to Israel, totaling an estimated $2.7 billion in munitions, guidance kits and related support.

The larger sale, valued at $2.04 billion, includes over 35,000 MK 84 or BLU-117 general-purpose bomb bodies and 4,000 I-2000 Penetrator warheads. It also encompasses spare parts, transportation support, engineering and logistical services. General Dynamics, Ellwood National Forge and McAlester Army Ammunition Plant are the principal contractors.

The second sale, estimated at $675.7 million, includes up to 200 MK 83 bomb bodies, nearly 4,800 BLU-110 bomb bodies and 5,000 Joint Direct Attack Munition guidance kits for these bombs. U.S. government and contractor engineering, logistics and technical support services are also included in this package, with Repkon USA and Boeing tapped as primary contractors.

Deliveries for the two planned deals are expected to begin in 2026 and 2028, respectively.

The state secretary has waived the usual congressional review requirement for these sales, citing emergencies and asserting that they are aligned with U.S. national security interests. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency further states that the sales support Israel’s self-defense capabilities, improving its ability to meet current and future threats, strengthen its homeland defense and deter regional adversaries.
