QinetiQ Partners With Muru on Australia’s Defense Aviation Safety Services

Global defense and security company QinetiQ has partnered with Muru Management Consulting to work on a contract award valued about $30 million for strategic support services to Australia’s Defence Aviation Safety Authority.

According to QinetiQ, the contract calls for the partners’ pooled efforts to help boost the Australian defense sector’s aviation safety through policy and standard updates, along with training programs.

Scheduled to be operational starting July 1, the contract is for five years, with an option for a five-year extension.

QinetiQ said it will tap into its network across the United Kingdom and the United States for the skills and know-how to support DASA’s goal of enhancing and promoting safe military aviation and space operations. It has also opened a new research facility in Australia to support defense initiatives under the 2024 National Defence Strategy and the Integrated Investment Program.

Muru, a wholly owned female and aboriginal firm, will bring its expertise in aviation operations and safety management into the partnership.

Gary Stewart, chief executive of QinetiQ’s Australia sector, said the company has supported Australia’s changing aviation safety requirements for over 25 years. “This new contract positions us to enhance defence aviation safety and capabilities further,” he added.

Donna Cowey, Muru’s managing director, expressed the company’s delight in the QinetiQ partnership, noting that it will enable the promotion of future DASA opportunities for other First Nations contractors.
