Lockheed Martin Australia has opened a custom-fit logistics warehouse to serve Australia’s UH-60M Black Hawk fleet. The new facility created 30 new warehousing and logistics jobs for people living in and around Sydney, New South Wales.
Located near the Australian Army’s Holsworthy Base in Holsworthy, the facility will have 4,500 square meters of space, accommodating the military service’s replenishment spares, support and test equipment, and provisions to operate the helicopters in Australia. It features two computer-controlled vertical lift machines for stacking spare parts to maximize inventory capacity.
“This warehouse increases Australia’s operational readiness by ensuring the Australian Army’s Black Hawk fleet is well supplied, maintained and combat ready,” said Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand Chief Executive Warren McDonald.
According to Rodahn Gibbon, program manager at Lockheed Martin Australia, the company is honored to work with the Australian Army using its deep understanding to provide rotary wing support services.
The new warehouse follows Australia’s reception of the Black Hawks’ initial operating capability only months after they entered service in 2023. The milestone assures that the 12 helicopters delivered can support counterterrorism operations with the retirement of the MRH90 Taipan fleet.
Lockheed business Sikorsky designs, manufactures and sustains the UH-60. The aircraft features twin engines, a reconfigurable cabin and 9,000 pounds of cargo capacity.
