Lockheed Martin Awarded $266M Air Force Contract for F-16 Transfer to Argentina

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin Aeronautics an undefinitized contract action worth up to $265.96 million to support the transfer of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark to Argentina. The Foreign Military Sales deal includes updating the F-16 operational flight program, according to a Department of Defense notice.

Lockheed will conduct the work in Fort Worth, Texas, Denmark and Argentina, with an expected completion date of March 31, 2032. This source-directed acquisition involves FMS funds to Argentina, with $53.2 million obligated at the time of award.

Argentina recently unveiled the first of its newly acquired F-16s, a used two-seat F-16B, from Denmark, sporting the Argentine Air Force’s insignia. According to a Janes report, the F-16B is part of a 24-aircraft deal with Denmark, comprising single-seat F-16As configured for combat and two-seat F-16Bs for pilot training. The remaining aircraft will be transferred from Denmark in four ferry flights starting in December 2025.

This Argentina-Denmark deal follows Lockheed Martin’s recent F-16 deliveries in Bulgaria and Bahrain.
