Corvid Books $268M Contract for US Navy, UK, Australia Suborbital Spacecraft Services

Corvid Technologies has secured a potential five-year, $268 million contract for the design, production and supply of suborbital vehicle configurations for the U.S. Navy and foreign military sales to Australia and the United Kingdom. The purchases in the firm-fixed-price contract involve 90 percent for the Navy and 5 percent each to Australia and the U.K.

The contract, which provides extension options, calls for Corvid to provide ground test hardware, test equipment and materials, and engineering and launch support for the sub-orbital flight vehicles.

The bulk of the U.S. contract will be performed in North Carolina, New Mexico and Maryland, while the FMS tasks will occur in Scotland and Australia. Work completion is expected by February 2026, with a possible extension of up to February 2030, if all options are exercised.

Fiscal 2024 Navy funds amounting to $80,000 for research, development, test and evaluation will be obligated at the time of award, with its expiry at the end of the current fiscal year. Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme in California initiated the competitive contracting activity through the SAM.gov website, with one offer received.

In 2019, Corvid won a potential $223.2M contract to provide hardware, equipment and components needed to produce suborbital flight vehicles for the U.S. Navy, other government organizations and Japan. It also provided a five-year timeframe with an expected conclusion by February 2024.

The Mooresville, North Carolina-based company announced in September that it is undertaking a $30 million campus expansion, including a 20,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, to further expand its capabilities and meet rising demand for complex flight and ground systems services.
