CGI Expands IT Services With Novatec Acquisition

Global IT and business consulting firm CGI has finalized its acquisition of Novatec, a digital services company with operations in Germany and Spain. The purchase, made through CGI’s German subsidiary, brings over 300 IT and consulting experts from Novatec into the Canadian company.

CGI anticipates Novatec’s expertise in application performance management to enhance its existing intellectual property and aid clients in accelerating digital innovation. The new personnel are based in Novatec’s eight offices in Germany and Granada, Spain.

“CGI and Novatec share a corporate culture based on results-oriented intrapreneurship, innovation and a high degree of accountability and ownership,” said Ralf Bauer, president of CGIs Germany operations. He added that the combined expertise will create additional value for its clients in the automotive, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

Established in 1996, Novatec offers cloud solutions, agile product development, software creation and digital strategy development, among other IT and business consulting services.

The Novatec deal is the latest of CGI’s acquisitions this year. In February, it finalized its acquisition of BJSS, a U.K.-based technology and engineering consultancy, a strategic move to strengthen CGI’s presence in the United Kingdom and its capabilities in artificial intelligence, cloud and software engineering.
