American defense technology company Anduril has partnered with the United Kingdom government to provide advanced unmanned attack systems to Ukrainian forces.
The drone order is part of a series of contracts signed by the two sides, with a total combined value of $38.7 million. The International Fund for Ukraine will support the new contracts, which include the delivery of the Altius 600m and Altius 700m loitering munition drones.
Senior executives from Anduril UK and British Defense Secretary John Healey formalized the deal during a recent meeting of world leaders in London. There, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his counterparts agreed to continue supplying essential aid to Ukraine amid wavering support from the U.S. government.
According to Healey, the contracts with Anduril underscore the U.K.’s commitment to ensuring long-lasting peace in Ukraine. He said this can be achieved by equipping the embattled nation with the technology to defend itself against Russia. “With a $2.9 billion loan from seized Russian assets, plus $2.1 billion worth of air defense missiles announced for Ukraine in the last week, the U.K. is continuing to show leadership in securing a lasting peace for Ukraine,” he added.
In addition to providing vital military equipment to Ukrainian forces, London has also extended further funding to Kyiv to document, investigate and hold accountable those responsible for the Russia-led invasion.
