The NATO Support Procurement Support Agency has awarded a multimillion-dollar contract to RTX business Raytheon for the provision of ELCAN Specter DR dual-role sights to the Danish Defence Armed Forces.
Manufactured by Raytheon ELCAN, the Specter DR sight is a direct-view optic that offers both close-quarters and precision aiming capabilities for infantry and vehicle-mounted use. It allows for instant magnification switching while maintaining consistent boresight, eye relief and sight picture, which enhances shooter visibility and range in challenging conditions.
Mike Lewis, director and general manager at Raytheon ELCAN, emphasized the sight’s battle-proven effectiveness in combat situations, stating, “Raytheon ELCAN continues to work with our customers across NATO to deliver rugged, reliable optics that give our allies a competitive advantage when it matters most.”
The new ELCAN Specter DR sights will replace the older ELCAN C79 fixed 3.4x sights currently in use by the Danish military. The optical system is also being used by the armed forces of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
NSPA has previously contracted Raytheon to procure Patriot GEM-T missiles. Valued at $478 million, the contract will provide Germany with additional GEM-T missiles, replenishing stocks that had been donated to Ukraine. Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway contributed to financing the procurement.
