Hensoldt announced that it has received orders totaling $1.45 billion between October 2024 and January 2025. Chief Financial Officer Christian Ladurner noted that the high number of orders is typical for the defense industry at the beginning of the year. He anticipates continued strong growth in the sensor solutions and electronic systems markets.
The military sensors manufacturer said contributions came from all business units, but a significant portion of the order backlog increase is attributed to a contract extension worth approximately $361.4 million for the Eurofighter Command Radar System Mark 1 project, which ensures the development of a Eurofighter Mk1 radar for Germany and Spain.
Additionally, an order exceeding $70.2 million will provide optronic and optical systems for 123 Leopard 2 A8 main battle tanks for the German and Norwegian armed forces. Hensoldt is also involved in the $57.8 million modernization of the sensor system of KNDS Deutschland’s Fennek armored reconnaissance vehicles deployed by the German military.
Hensoldt, in partnership with Airbus, will also modernize the Bundeswehr’s Electronic Warfare Centre under the IT-SEKUS ZEK program. This $39.2 million project will provide the German Air Force with updated software and hardware solutions, enhancing the operational readiness of its flying weapon systems.
These recent orders coincide with Taufkirchen-based defense contractor’s other strategic partnerships. Lockheed Martin recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the company to develop advanced radar and command systems for maritime applications. Moreover, Hensoldt Group’s ESG has partnered with BAE Systems to explore new defense technologies, focusing on autonomous platforms, mission systems and training solutions for multidomain operations.
