GE, Global Aerospace Logistics Partner on UAE Skills Development

GE Aerospace has partnered with Abu Dhabi-based Global Aerospace Logistics in the Next50 program to train aerospace talent in the United Arab Emirates. The initiative will target to train 50 young UAE nationals annually. GE Aerospace said the program participants will be able to develop their capabilities at the GE Aerospace Customer Technical Education Center in Ohio.

Salim Mousallam, regional vice president of defense and systems for GE Aerospace in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, noted the center’s proximity to the company’s headquarters and major facilities for research and development, engineering and manufacturing.

“We have proudly contributed to workforce development in the UAE and the wider region for decades, and this program is the latest example of our shared commitment to building a pipeline of skilled, passionate and talented young people who are eager to work in the aerospace sector,” the executive said.

Practical Training

During the program, the students will undergo practical hands-on training on various aerospace subjects, such as aircraft maintenance and avionics. The focus of the skills training includes engine maintenance of the F110 jets and T700 helicopters in the arsenal of the UAE Armed Forces.

The GE-GAL partnership is the latest in global aerospace companies’ efforts to cultivate Emirati talent.

In July 2024, Lockheed Martin launched a summer internship program at the UAE’s Center for Innovation and Security Solutions in Abu Dhabi. More than 50 interns are expected to graduate in the first year.
