Report: Investors Lining Up Billions in Funding for French AI Projects

France has received $112.6 billion worth of investments for its artificial intelligence sector, CNBC reported ahead of the two-day Paris AI Action Summit.

According to the report, the investments are expected to come from United Arab Emirates, U.S. and Canadian investment funds, and commitments from French firms, such as telecommunication company Orange and global technology company Thales.

The UAE intends to invest between $31 billion and $52 billion in a 1-GW French AI data center to develop the technology. Meanwhile, French telecommunications firm Iliad has made a $3.1 billion commitment to build an AI infrastructure and Mistral AI is planning its own data center in France.

In separate coverage of the Feb. 10-11 summit, Reuters reported that Canadian investment firm Brookfield would invest $21 billion in French AI projects.

Other pledges Reuters gathered from Macron’s office and companies participating in the summit include $1.2 billion from Amazon, $5 billion from alternative asset manager Apollo Global Management, $6 billion from real estate investment trust Digital Realty, $650.1 million from data center firm Equinix and $10.3 billion from AI cloud platform firm Fluidstack.
