Elbit Systems UK is prioritizing the launch of its Sling 120 mm mortar system in the United Kingdom this year, CEO Martin Fausset said. The Sling platform is engineered for easier deployment and increased survivability of light forces while delivering higher lethality to adversaries.
“Built to integrate with most light platforms including the Supacat Jackal, Sling offers shoot-and-scoot capabilities, meaning it can be fired and redeployed before counter-battery is possible – essential tactics for survivability on the modern battlefield,” the executive wrote in a company blog post on Tuesday.
Counter-UAS Market
In addition to the Sling system, Fausset mentioned that Elbit Systems is exploring opportunities within the U.K. market for its other developed equipment, including the ReDrone designed to counter unmanned aerial systems.
Another key focus for Elbit is the Dismounted Joint Fires Integrator, or D-JFI, program, which benefits all branches of the British Armed Forces. In September 2024, the company announced the completion of the critical design review for the D-JFI, which aims to enhance warfighters’ capability to locate and identify targets. Deliveries to the U.K. Ministry of Defence are expected within this year following system acceptance testing.
Additionally, Fausset confirmed that the company will continue to provide high-tech equipment under the Ministry of Defence’s Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integrated Capability program. The program tasks Elbit Systems UK with the design, production and supply of maritime electronic suites that enhance situational awareness and anti-ship missile defense.
