Real-time, space-based intelligence provider BlackSky has won a contract to provide an international customer with subscription-based on-demand Gen-2 imagery and analytics services using its artificial intelligence-powered Spectra tasking and analytics platform.
Under the award, BlackSky will support the client’s initiative to create an essential base for developing an immediate and long-term space-based capability.
Spectra offers customers access to a wide range of imagery from BlackSky’s global sensor network, including satellite-based sources. The platform also has satellite tasking via the company’s virtual constellation, enabling users to find specific images.
“This deal exemplifies the essence of BlackSky’s land-and-expand approach, where quick-access, subscription-based services build the foundation for expanded growth in the region,” said BlackSky CEO Brian E. O’Toole.
The contract also covers comprehensive analyst training, focusing on best practices using automated broad area search and discovery tools. The training component is expected to equip analysts with the capability to integrate BlackSky data with other intelligence sources and generate products that would support different types of missions.
BlackSky recently secured a deal to support Indonesia’s development of space-based capabilities. The effort will see the company collaborate with Thales Alenia Space to provide advanced Earth observation satellites, ground station capabilities and flight operation support.
