Lockheed Martin Appoints Jonathon Wells as VP of Mission Systems, Weapons

Lockheed Martin has named Jonathon Wells as vice president of the company’s mission systems and weapons unit. Wells announced his appointment in a LinkedIn post on Monday.

In his new role, Wells will lead a team responsible for launching systems, airborne mission systems, counter-unmanned aerial systems and the United Kingdom integrated systems business, catering to a wide range of customers.

The Lockheed executive recently served as the defense company’s vice president for program management, a position he held for over two years. He held several other leadership roles within the company, including program management director and deputy for training and simulation solutions, program director for F-35 training development and modernization, and senior program manager for F-35 Autonomic Logistics Information System.

Before joining Lockheed Martin, he established a medical laser business focused on developing neuroprosthetic devices and microsurgical lasers.

“I want to express my appreciation to the Lockheed Martin colleagues I have partnered with over the last decade on the Training and Logistics Solutions team. Although I am leaving a great team behind, I look forward to the innovation and growth ahead with a talented MSW team as we push the boundaries of what is possible,” Wells said.

The new VP of mission systems and weapons holds a bachelor of science, a master’s of science and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He also obtained a master’s of business administration from the University of Washington – Michael G. Foster School of Business.
