CGI Agrees to Acquire BJSS; Merger to Close in February

IT and business consulting firm CGI is set to acquire BJSS after signing a share purchase agreement with the U.K.-based technology and engineering consultancy.

Pending regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions in February, the acquisition will add BJSS’s workforce of more than 2,400, including experts in health, government and financial services, to CGI’s global team.

The combination of the two companies will “leverage our complementary strengths to deliver even greater value for our clients while creating new opportunities for our talented team,” BJSS Chairman Glynn Robinson said.

BJSS started operations in 1993, focusing on supporting customers seeking expertise in delivering large-scale, high-quality software systems and addressing a wide range of technology issues. The firm specializes in various IT services, including customer experience design, software engineering and cloud and platform solutions.

Tara McGeehan, president of CGI’s UK and Australia operations, said the merger enables the company to improve its offerings to customers.

“By joining forces, we will strengthen our ability to help clients across the private and public sectors achieve measurable outcomes, such as driving efficiencies, improving customer experiences and generating business growth,” the CGI executive added.

CGI recently expanded its presence in the IT consulting segment in the U.S. market with its acquisition of Miami, Florida-based Momentum Consulting. Tim Hurlebaus, president of U.S. commercial and state government operations at CGI, said the deal, announced in October, not only makes the company’s service more accessible to Floridian companies but also improves CGI’s IT capabilities.
