Australian Accelerator Program Advances, Aims to Give ADF Competitive Edge

Australia’s Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator program is progressing to the delivery phase, enabling two undisclosed local companies to continue developing solutions to counter adversaries’ integrated air and missile defense systems.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese launched the ASCA to accelerate the delivery of innovative warfighting solutions to the Australian Defence Force by empowering local businesses through investments. The government invested $61.5 million in the project as part of its dedication to protecting Australians while fostering innovative efforts led by local companies.

Pat Conroy, the minister of defense industry and capability delivery, said the funding opportunity reflects the Albanese government’s commitment to ensuring that the ADF remains competitive. “We are proud to work with innovative Australian companies that play a critical role in developing technology that can give the ADF a capability edge over a much bigger and more powerful adversary,” he said.

Conroy highlighted the investment in thew Ghost Shark program as an example of the Australian defense sector’s leadership in producing cutting-edge technologies.
