Israeli defense technology company Elbit Systems has received two contracts to deliver electronic warfare and directed infrared countermeasure self-protection suites to a NATO member state. Both come with a five-year performance period.
The award, with an aggregate value of $175 million, covers the acquisition of Self-Protection Suites to be installed on Embraer C-390 Millenium aircraft and Airbus H225M helicopters. One of the contracts also involves providing another NATO country with an advanced EW suite for the C-390 Millenium.
Elbit’s EW solutions, which are used by many of the world’s air forces, integrate the company’s solutions, including a digital radar warning receiver, laser warning system, and countermeasure dispenser system.
Oren Sabag, general manager of ISTAR and EW at Elbit Systems, shared how the new deal reflects the company’s position in the EW and DIRCM fields. “These new contracts further reinforce our global position in the area of airborne self-protection suites. Our advanced modular design allows continuous updates, ensuring adaptation to evolving threats and providing a rapid response to enhance the safety of both aircrews and platforms,” he said.
Elbit has been outfitting several European nations’ aircraft fleets with its defense technologies. In August, the firm secured a contract to install the Iron Fist active protection systems on a European state’s CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. Earlier, it booked a $300 million armored vehicle systems order from a European buyer, an order for C4I platform installation in a European artillery unit.
