Leonardo DRS has named Peter Hurst as vice president of special projects and United King business lead for the defense technology manufacturer.
Hurst, who announced the appointment via a LinkedIn post on Wednesday, recently served as the company’s VP for international projects and business strategy. He led the firm’s Land Electronics division, managing business contracts, market strategy and project delivery.
He held several roles at the U.S.-based contractor when it was still DRS Technologies. The executive was VP of international business development and VP of business development for the Tactical Systems group and VP of international business development at DRS Network & Imaging Systems.
Before joining Leonardo DRS, Hurst spent several years at Lynwood Rugged Systems, holding several positions, including sales and marketing director and sales manager of finance.
He holds a business studies degree from Middlesex University, which he completed with honors.
Among Leonardo DRS’ critical projects in the U.K. include installing the European Common Radar System Mark 2 radar on a test aircraft ahead of the system’s test flight on the Eurofighter Typhoon. The ECRS Mk2’s multifunctional array will enable the Typhoon to detect, identify and track multiple air and ground targets and simultaneously engage in electronic warfare tasks.
