Israeli company Orbit Communication Systems will supply multipurpose satellite communication terminals to Israel under a contract worth about $9.1 million.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense expects to deploy the terminals on mobile and stationary ground platforms. Once the ministry receives the initial orders in 2025, the Orbit product is expected to improve the Israeli armed forces’ satellite connectivity.
The MPT portfolio comprises versatile and compact satcom terminals, including the MPT-30 and MPT-46, capable of delivering the needs of military operations, whether at sea or in the air. Each U.S. military and civil standards-compliant terminal from the line offers download speeds of over 126 Mbps and uploads of 29 Mbps.
Orbit CEO Daniel Eshchar highlighted the significance of the new order to the company’s growth.
“This strategic win represents a significant milestone for Orbit, reinforcing our position as a trusted technology partner for defense organizations worldwide,” he said. “Combined with our recent selection by Viasat to develop next-generation terminals for their ViaSat-3 satellites and additional orders from the Ministry of Defense, [this order] validates our technological leadership in the global satcom market.”
