Embraer, Brazil to Reconfigure C-390 Aircraft for ISR Missions

Brazilian multinational aerospace company Embraer will collaborate with the Brazilian Air Force to develop the C-390 Millennium platform for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

According to the company, exploring the C-390’s potential for new operational capabilities builds on the military transport’s versatility and relies on the expertise of its engineering and systems integration teams.

The Millennium platform is a next-generation multimission aircraft with a rugged design ideal for use in challenging environments. Its body can carry significantly more cargo and accommodate heavy combat vehicles that weigh up to 26 metric tons.

Countries such as Austria, South Korea and the Netherlands prefer the C-390 for transporting soldiers and military equipment.

Embraer Defense & Security President and CEO Bosco da Costa Jr. commented on the next phase of the company’s partnership with the air force.

“We are honored to move forward with the FAB on studies to expand the operational capabilities of the C-390 Millennium,” he said, referring to Força Aérea Brasileira, the military service’s local name. “It reinforces our commitment to providing our customers with an aircraft capable of carrying out their most challenging missions with unparalleled efficiency.”
