MDA Space Names Finance Veteran as New CFO

Finance veteran Guillaume Lavoie has joined MDA Space as chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Lavoie comes into his new role with more than 20 years of financial experience, specializing in strategic and financial planning, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions.

A chartered professional accountant in Canada, he recently served as executive vice president and CFO at Sofina Foods, leading its growth strategy and integrating a large European business into its operations. Previously, he was senior vice president and CFO at Woodbridge and VP and CFO at Bombardier Transportation. He began his career as a senior financial analyst with Pratt & Whitney.

The executive holds a degree in business administration from the Universite du Quebec a Montreal.

Company CEO Mike Greenley highlighted the timing of Lavoie’s appointment, saying, “With our continued growth and increased customer demand for the full range of MDA Space capabilities and products, Guillaume’s deep capital markets and financial management experience will help drive ongoing value creation for MDA Space shareholders.”

Earlier in the year, MDA Space was named partner and owner of Starlab Space, a joint venture tasked with developing a NASA-funded commercial space station. MDA’s contributions to the consortium include its newly launched MDA Skymaker suite of scalable and modular robotics solutions.

At the time, Greenley said MDA Space’s inclusion in the Starlab partnership shows the industry’s high trust in its robotic technologies.
