Canadian IT consulting and services provider CGI will provide the Swedish Tax Agency with e-identification and electronic signature services as part of Sweden’s commitment to streamlining its tax filing process.
According to CGI, the deal, announced on Wednesday, supports the Swedish government’s initiative to increase operational efficiency, improve the digital experience and enable government agencies to offer secure customer services.
Stockholm has been maximizing the benefits digital technologies offer in delivering services to the public. In 2024, more than 7 million taxpayers filed their tax returns digitally, a new record for its tax agency.
Leif Alama, senior vice president at CGI Sweden, expressed excitement over collaborating to improve the European nation’s digital services. “CGI is pleased to continue developing stable and secure services that are citizen-centric … The fact that we enable critical public services daily is a responsibility we take very seriously,” he said.
