Red Hat has named Gilson Magalhaes vice president and general manager for Latin America, replacing Paulo Bonucci, who led the company’s regional operations for over a decade.
In his new role, Magalhaes, who has served as Red Hat Brazil’s country manager since November 2013, will focus on maintaining the company’s progress in its key global markets by driving the adoption of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, built on hybrid cloud. He will remain Red Hat Brazil’s country manager until the company appoints his replacement in the coming months.
“Red Hat is a forward-thinking company that has consistently been disruptive and set market trends for years,” the executive said. “I hope to contribute meaningfully to this journey and expand our presence across the entire region.”
Magalhaes has over 35 years of experience in the IT market. Before joining Red Hat, he served as a general manager at Dell Technologies. His private sector career also included time as vice president for an industry business unit and strategic accounts at Oracle Brazil.
