Reitred Air Marshal Kevin Short has joined Lockheed Martin New Zealand as managing director of strategy and business development, succeeding Graham Lintott starting November. He will be reporting to Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand CEO Warren McDonald, himself scheduled to step down in three months.
“[Short] brings a wealth of experience and deep understanding of New Zealand’s defense environment, which will be invaluable as we continue to grow our operations,” McDonald said.
Short is a retired Royal New Zealand Air Force officer who spent over four decades in military service, including as the longest serving chief of the New Zealand Defence Force until his retirement in June. He specializes in defense leadership and operations, with a focus on domestic and global events. He was named honorary officer of the Order of Australia in 2022 in recognition of his service. He was also appointed a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit and gained the U.S. Legion of Merit award in 2024.
Short said of his appointment, “Lockheed Martin is an important partner to the New Zealand Defence Force … I look forward to contributing to its continued success in supporting New Zealand’s defense objectives.”
