Jacobs will provide engineering design support services for CG Semi’s new outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facility in India. CG Semi is a joint venture between CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Renesas Electronics America and Stars Microelectronics Thailand.
According to a deal announced Thursday, the American contractor will be the engineering, procurement and construction services partner at the site’s mini line and engineering provider on the main line.
The new OSAT factory, built on over 28 acres of land in Sanand, Gujrat, will produce several advanced and legacy packages for automotive, consumer and industrial customers.
“With our extensive experience in the U.S., Europe and Asia and proven capabilities, we are eager to contribute to the success of [CG Semi’s] new facility, helping to drive growth and technological advancement in the region,” said Jacobs Chair and CEO Bob Pragada.
The Jacobs project aligns with the U.S. and India’s moves to strengthen a more sustainable global semiconductor environment. The International Technology Security and Innovation Fund, created under the CHIPS and Science Act in 2022, and New Delhi’s India Semiconductor Mission support the partnership.
