Retired Air Vice Marshal Steven Roberton has joined Lockheed Martin as vice president and regional executive for Australia and New Zealand.
The appointment comes after Lockheed Martin Australia and NZ CEO Warren McDonald announced that he would retire by the end of 2024. After the transition, Roberton will take over the post, reporting directly to Ray Piselli, vice president of international business at Lockheed Martin Global Business Development.
Roberton noted the ANZ market’s strategic role in the defense contractor’s operations worldwide. “Lockheed Martin has a long history of partnership in this region, and I look forward to continuing that legacy,” he said.
Roberton recently served as a senior adviser at global management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. The veteran spent more than 30 years in the Australian Defence Force, initially serving as a direct entry pilot trainee and later as vice chief of the Defence Force Group until his retirement in February 2022.
According to Piselli, Roberton, “a forward-thinking and highly effective leader” with a deep knowledge of customer requirements, will help strengthen critical partnerships and drive Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand’s success.
