In Groupe in Talks Over Possible Idemia Smart Identity Acquisition

French multinational technology company Idemia has entered into negotiations with In Groupe over the possible sale of Idemia Smart Identity, one of its three business units.

Idemia said closing the deal would expand In Groupe’s size, geographic presence and cutting-edge solutions offered to customers worldwide.

According to Idemia Group CEO Pierre Barrial, the transaction is part of the company’s broader strategy to penetrate specific markets and achieve fast business growth.

“With [$2.78B] in revenue, 12,500 employees and 4,000 customers with its Secure Transactions and Public Security divisions, Idemia Group would embark on a new chapter in its history and remain focused on delivering mission-critical solutions powered by biometrics and cryptography,” Barrial said.

The transaction is expected to close in 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval. Goldman Sachs and Rothschild & Co. are acting as Idemia’s financial consultants.
